Once when I was a little kid, I dug up an antlion larva from it’s little sarlacc-like pit behind the shrubs and set it before a previously captured praying mantis. Within a second or less, the praying mantis dealt the antlion a sudden and mortal blow with one of it’s forelegs.  I distinctly remember greenish blood spilling out onto the white porch railing.  Henceforth, I decided that praying mantis’ were awesome.
