Also, big thanks to my friend Joseph for having the idea that was the basis for the current comic.

]]>I spend quite a bit of time last month getting myself acclimated to the new Photoshop CS4. After using Sketchbook Pro for more than two years, it took some relearning. I think that the quality of the artwork is going to benefit considerably, however. For those that are interested, here’s a little character design in progress for the new project I mentioned in the last post:
And yes, that’s supposed to look a bit like Donald Trump’s toupee…

]]>I said I’d post something about the direction this comic will be taking in the future…
For now, updates will continue to be made to TBK, they just won’t be very frequent. Hopefully I’ll get one out every month. The reason for this is that Eric and I have a somewhat serious, character driven scifi yarn that we want to tackle. I don’t want to talk about it too much right now because it’s still in developmental stages, existing as little more than a rough outline and some sketches. This will end up sapping a lot of time from the drawing of this comic, unfortunately, but we hope that a lot of you will find the new project just as interesting. More on this soon.
And that’s it for news posts for a while. Next time I post something here, it will be a comic. Promise.

]]>For the latter part of December I was visiting an uncharacteristically wintry Oregon to spend Christmas with my girlfriend and her family. I got to see lots of grazing sheep, hang out in Portland, drink some delicious Shakespeare Stout at the Rogue Brewery and freeze my toes off during a stroll on the Newport coast. It was a good time despite the naughty weather and I’m hoping to return there in the summer.
When we got back home to Kansas we had to pack up and relocate from my hometown, Emporia, KS, to Overland Park, KS. We’ve been neck deep in boxes for most of January. Only today did we finally get functioning internet service. The move was for a few reasons. First, Emporia is a lovely little town but Ariel and I wanted to live somewhere with more options (also, we had to be somewhere that we could go out for good Indian food). Secondly, I’ve decided I want to go back to school, and this dip in the economy seems like a good time to try to further my education.
Finally, there is another really important bit of news.
In about four months and some change, I’m going to become the father of a little baby boy. These past months my emotional makeup has been a kalidescope of love, fear, awe, joy, and worry. I’m excited about bringing life into this world and I’m determined to do my best not to screw him up too much.

]]>Also. Thanks to the fine folks at Invisihosting, who very generously offered to host this site for free, I’m going to attempt to migrate the domain later tonight. Wish me luck, it’s my first time migrating.
UPDATE: On second thought, I think I’ll try the transfer tomorrow, when I’m a bit more alert.
