Quite so, I read through the strip, wondered where all the kerfuffle had come from, & thought to myself "TBK is subtle, what have I missed?" & went back to the start. It's those little details you have to spot that make it so satisfying.
You have hinted several times that you think it is more than coincidence that TBK and PBF seem to be very similar; do you have any other examples, because the fact the PBF and TBK happen to have a couple of comics with refrigerators as characters doesn't make them all that similar.
After all, there is more to a comic than the characters; there is the style of the art and inking, the overall theme of each comic, the way the creatures within interact, etc. PBF and TBK only really match in the fact that they both use abstract ideas to make comments that are usually funny and often hilarious - that is about where the similarity ends for me.
I find TBK to be more intelligent overall, I have to think when I read these comics; I happen to like that aspect a great deal. Plus the art is phenomenal and the often subtle, understated punchline is very entertaining.
PBF was also entertaining, but the art was completely different, and the the punchlines were gotten at in a very different manner, not subtle in the same way, and with extremely different themes - even the refrigerator comics that you used as examples had themes so completely different as to render them not even in the same category (unless "refrigerator as main character" is somehow a major comic category).
Haha, awesome. At first I thought the refridgerator just hated that girl, because she's overweight, or maybe she's just a little jerk. Thats what I get for reading comics that arent as clever as this one, I've become unintelligent!
I agree that the comic is done beautifully, but I feel like there have been several comics on this site that closely resemble comics from the Perry Bible Fellowship... go to pbfcomics.com and look at the comics titled "Refridgeron and Magnimus" and "Disassemble". It's possible the similarities are purely coincidental and I'm being unnecessarily harsh - if so I apologize, it just seems unusual that there are so many paralells in this comic and previous ones.
They are nothing alike. The characters arent alike: In those comics the fridge is a transformer, in this one the fridge is... a fridge. The object of the humor isnt alike: Ignoring obstructions causes bad results in this one. In those comics, transformers behave in a way you wouldnt expect them to by themselves (not helping a human or killing them by accident).
If you can spot similarities from such diverse symbols you probably have an OCD.
There are robot fridges in all of those strips, but that's about the only thing they have in common. It's not like disney has a lock on cartoons about talking mice :)
