When there’s something strange, in your opera house, who you gonna call?
Phantom Busters!

Jimbo:
But… but… he’s not a ghost!

Brian Choi:
The Phantom was never a ghost… he was a disfigured musician.

So some people are having difficulty accepting the phantom/ghostbusters pun.
Just justify it to yourselves by pretending that the ghostbusters made a mistake here. Its no more silly than the idea that ’slimer’ gets to be the comic relief in the cartoon version of ghostbusters anyway.
Besides, how else would you explain the mask and cape not disappearing with the ‘phantom’?

Felisia:
annnd he’s just more disfigured now… Man, that burn victim just can’t get a break.
I just want to say that the title of this strip is SO WONDERFUL.

Alex:
I love the tendency toward understating the joke in the more recent strips - less expository dialogue and more letting the images and ideas do the talking. It’s always funnier that way.
Even if the Phantom isn’t really a ghost, this is still a funny strip - though maybe the second and third panels could be switched, to delay the payoff of the (very recognizable) ghost-trap for the very end and have the (less recognizable) energy beam first. But now I’m just being anal! This comic is funny. Carry on!

Funny. The phantom spouting off a duel lightsabre and stabbing Liam Neeson would be a good one too hehe.
