no that’s not it, I remember it was like, a defense against aliens type thing, and you had to build walls and towers and all sorts of other things to keep them out. There were sentries to shoot at them…and stuff, but command & conquer is close."
An old game called Utopia comes to mind. It was more like a SimCity game, but with the added bonus of aliens constantly harrassing your ass.

Ohhhh my god! this is really separate from what everyone else is saying, but WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT GAME! It was my favorite game on my old computer and I don't remember what it's called anymore. I've been looking for it for ever! Other than that fantastic comic.
You say that this is for the 1% audience, but I have to admit this is funny even to those 99% unwashed masses (such as myself). One day, wars are actually going to be fought like this and mishaps such as this are bound to happen. I just hope I'm far enough away from the coast to avoid those goddamned chronoshifted cruisers.
This comic reminds me of my first experience with SimCity. It was a rude awakening that you can't just build any dang city configuration you want and have a functional city. As my city stagnated and funds dwindled, I was forcibly brought to realize the necessity of roads and power lines.
