Something bothered me about the first panel, and I was looking at the EMOCLEW mat per the other comments when I realized that the Doughboy is lit from the _right-hand_ side of the panel, but the fire is on the _left-hand_ side. And now I wonder if the whole first panel was _supposed_ to be vaguely unsettling, perhaps to make the final panel more funny and less horrific by comparison.
Since the light is white I think the first panel just shows that the light outside (sun reflected on snow) is brighter than inside. As for the mat, it just looks like a very slight goof. Like the artist vertically flipped the mat's text layer instead of rotating it 180 degrees.
I still think these comics are some of the best drawn online and very funny.
Yeah, the word welcome is definitely backwards and upside down. All they had to do was flip the picture and write it, how hard would that have been? Honestly. Great comic, though! Brings tears of joy to my eyes.
I'm pretty sure that - and based on the fact that most of these comics aren't for the intelligence-impaired - that the WELCOME was meant to be spelled (spelt? delicious noodles?) incorrectly.
This starts out so adorable, and ends in heartbreak. I love his little teeth chattering face in panel one, plus the tiny rolling pin leaning against the wall. He looks so happy to be warming up by the fire in panel two, until tragedy strikes.
I think this strip would have been even funnier if the last panel displayed a look of absolute horror permanently etched (baked?) onto the Dough Boy's face.
...Would he explode or crumble if we poked his belly now? Or would he be squishy and engulf our limbs, burning us to death with his freakishly under-baked hot dough?
