My take on it is that the Knight's armour is a kind-of frying plate upon which the batter-breath was cooked (having been greased with the butter). The torch is obviously the heat source here although if the knight heated his armour he's be cooked alive inside it.... so that's somewhat perplexing. I think the butter and syrup is definitely the dragons' stash, although for some reason I'm having mental visions of a Blaire-style projectile vomit of batter! lol

...it's so sad! The poor crab can't live up to his name... he's tried many times, but it just doesn't work. The tear in his eye is one of complete and utter frustration.
