Being a Dutchy myself, the missmatched sterotype just makes the comic extra amusing.

but…. what about the flying Dutchman?

NP:
The irony being, sea level rise will allow your garden variety pirate to raid Holland with impunity.

Will:
Except that’s nothing near a Dutch accent.
And we don’t say “Yah,” or Ja.

Alex:
You don’t say “Yah,” but you do have sky pirates???

Why would they be talking in broken English to each other, if you want to be picky about language.
I want that last panel as my wallpaper.

Jordan:
Turns out dutch actually IS just broken english. Seriously it sounds like british people pretending to speak german.

Vernes:
I think it’s a lovely way to describe the dutch language.
Much more then it’s worth.

Also, look at the fellow next to the sheep: Lederhösen (or what do you call these pants?) — you guys definately got Germans confused with Dutchmen. Not the landscape though, that’s Holland alright.
Hey, but nice artwork anyway!

Heh, I’m pretty sure there are Dutchmen who wear lederhosen-like pants. A quick google image search reveals hard forensic evidence toward this end…
Regardless, Eric and I really don’t know a damn thing about Holland other than the fact that they have lots and lots of windmills. I suppose we could have done some research, but in cases such as this it seems far more amusing to go with the horribly distorted cultural image in our heads. We probably went over the top with the completely absurd accents, though… Please forgive us, Holland!

The accent doesn’t make sense, same mistake as they made in Austin Powers: Goldmember. This is more German-like.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. GOODNIGHT.
(I’m sorry, I had to.)

Anything that even remotely smacks of making fun of the Dutch is bonus in my book.

Lemmy:
fake.
no cheese, no smoking joints, no matjes herring. can’t be holland.

Abraham:
The girl is dressed like Germans and Swiss think that a milkmaid in Holland is dressed. The boy is a German countryboy. Nobody! is wearing a “lederhosen” in Holland. It is considered to be even worser than wearing a Burka. And you will definitely see no grass (but sandbeaches) and no windmill on the seaside. But it is a cartoon and everything is allowed in it!!!

Moses:
I think you hit a nerve, guys… don’t even remotely– even accidentally– associate the Dutch with the Germans. NOT FANS of each other. That being said, great cartoon!!

Funny, but my inner dutchophile dislikes the nondutchness…
